July l996 CYVCC -Sediment Yield DemonsbaNon Rev.2 - Block C 11
To develop a model fw an adjacent pastureland area which would be comparable to Block C, TerraMatrix
utilized the 1992 pastureland reference area vegetation survey conducted by CYVCC. The pastureland
reference area has been established as being representative of the vegetation found in adjacent urmrnined
pastrneland To model a comparable area with similar topography and soil types, TerraMatmix combined
the vegetation survey information with infommation on the topography and soil type determined for Block
C. The soil types and topogaphy found in Black C are similaz to the soils and topography found in
adjacent pastureland areas.
By modeling a comparable adjacent area in this manner, in place of evaluating an actual adjacent azea
which may have different soil types, vegetation, and topography, the sediment yield demonstration
provides a direct and reasonable comparison of the success of the revegetation efforts and their effect on
surface runoff and sediment loads.
c isn~eu'cn2raev
01//5 96 3 3lp~n Lp TerraAralric lne ' J65 Sourh Union Boulevard Suite 4h0 ' Laken•nod.
