EXHIBIT K
Climate Information
This area is characterized by an average annual precipitation of
about 12 to 15 inches. Of this 35~ to 45~ falls as snow, and 40%
to 45% falls between May 1 and September 30. Summer moisture is
mostly from thundershowers in late July, August and September. A
dry period from May to early July is typical, and June is normally
the driest month. Wide yearly and monthly deviations are common.
Active growth of the major native plant species usually starts in
April and extends through most of June. However, for some plants
active growth ends in late May. Many plants can again take
advantage of late summer rains if in good vigor.
Mean annual temperatures are about 47 to 52 degrees Fahrenheit.
The frost-free period is 100 to 135 days. Annual range in
temperature is usually from about 90 degrees to -15 degrees
Fahrenheit, although higher and lower extremes are sometimes
recorded. A few areas are warmer and slightly more moist than
typical.
