v
APPENDIX D-2
TOPSOIL CONSERVATION
Topsoil is a valuable resource which is being conserved at the Colony
site. This site plan requires topsoil replacement, where practicable, prior to
revegetation in areas which are not likely to he red isturbed by resumed develop-
ment. Areas in which topsoil will be used are identified in the text of combined
Exhibits D & E. The thickness of topsoil used will be in accordance with
Exhibit E of the original Permit Application, as amended. In areas which are
expected to be re-disturbed by future development, and/or where replacement of
topsoil is either not practicable - e.g., on steep slopes - or is unnecessary -
e.g., on areas with sufficient seed bed material already in place, the procedures
used for revegetation do not topsoil replacement. These procedure were developed
with the aid of the Mined Land Reclamation Division and are aimed at stabilizing
slopes and reducing erosion.
.~
U
PD 1000.102 85
