D1/28 'DO 00:50
POWDERHORN
COAL COMPANY
ID:LANIERFAX3800
June 4, 1997
FAX
FAX:
Mr. Larry Routten
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 802D3-2273
RE: Outstanding Midterm Review Issues C-B1-041
Dear Mr. Routten:
PA(,E 1
P.O. Box Il7D
PdIMd~. CobWnB1548
(WO) IM•7Y5f
Fv[ (BiD) ~6/-7111
Per our conversation last week, I am sending a list of issues
that I stall have with the midterm review for our permit. These
issues are listed by numbers that have been carried through the
review process. The latest letter being responded to is a letter
from Dan dated April 25, 1997. Many of the remaining requests in
this letter will be taken care of. The following are the
questions that may need mitigation:
B0. I have had non-discharging sumps and berms and other
Naeft drainage control structures in my permit for years. All of
S~"'r"' a sudden I am asked how I will dewater one of them. I
~ ,w w(
P~ ~ offered to pump it to another pond once it had settled. It
~j~r would be a minor amount of water, it would be settled prior
A+'~ q to pumping and would be pumped at a non-critical period. I
~~ySl~'~" don't believe that this scenario would affect the size of
the receiving pond. My current thought is that all of my
alternate sediment control atructuxes are or will be listed
in my Storm Water permit and a statement to that affect
could be included in out M&R permit.
96. This question has to do with headwater design of culvert.
U,,,lwf~
,~/
The response that
I have had to my design brings
up the
~
,.. y issue of a person without professional certifica tion
q++~ ;~ evaluating work with professional certification. There is a
I
` certain amount of logic and judgement that goes along with
6~ ~
~^
'*
~
~
~
~ s
1 .N
