Your letter was
apparently in response to my previous correspondence requesting documentation as to the
pre-1981 existence and size of the pits, and/or submittal of applications for well permits and
substitute water supply plans, I regret that your submittal is inadequate. I will address each
pit separately.
Maxevville Pit. M-78-068
The July 27, 1978 and August 29, 1989 aerial photographs do appear to document
that the size of the pit did not increase over that period. However, the number of exposed
acres ground water was not given. Please provide this number and a statement that the
exposure has not increased since 1989.
Sanderson Pit. M-78-069
The July 27, 1978 and August 9, 1990 aerial photographs show an increase in
exposed ground water from less than 1 acre to over 4 acres. As this pit is active, lacking
additional evidence it would appear that the amount of exposed ground water did increase
since December 31, 1980, and a well permit and a substitute water supply plan are required.
Del Norte Pit, M-78-071
No evidence has yet been provided as to the amount of pre- vs. post-1981 ground
water exposure.
