Dudash <br />Environmental Protection Specialist APR 14 2006 <br />Division of Minerals and Geology IOiYi9iN1 q(~ppinerals${je0i <br />1313 Sherman St., Room 215 ooy <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />RE: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-1996-083) <br />Permit Revision Application No. 10 (PR-10) <br />Revise B-Seam Mine Plan <br />Dear Joe: <br />The Board of Delta County Commissioners (Board) has reviewed your letter of <br />3/14/06 regarding the above referenced Permit Revision Application submitted by <br />Bowie Resources, LTD and appreciates the opportunity to comment. <br />It appears that the proposed expansion of the mine plan moves mining activities <br />closer to Terror Creek Reservoir and underneath a section of Hubbard Creek. <br />Such an expansion raises local concems about potential impacts on water <br />resources and the integrity of dam structures. The Board understands that as <br />part of the Division's permitting process, impacts to water resources are carefully <br />examined and addressed. <br />The Board strongly supports the coal mining activities in the North Fork Valley of <br />Delta County and is not opposed to mine expansions.
