<br />This letter is to notify you, as an adjacent landowner, that Basin Resources, Inc., 14,300 Highway 12,
<br />Weston Colorado 81091, the operator of Golden Earle Mine, Permit number C-81-013 is filing for a
<br />release of reclamation liability with the Slate of Colorado, Division of Minerals and Geology, for lands
<br />overlying areas of mining that occurred prior to 1991. A total of 59 acres of surface disturbance from
<br />mining is covered b}' a Coal Reclamation Bond in the amount of 5477,085. The permittee is no[ applying
<br />for a reduction in [he bond amount by this action.
<br />In a separate filing with the Division, Basin Resources is requesting a bond release for areas approved as
<br />"Industrial Use" as apost-mining land use classification. The reclamation bond would be subject to a
<br />reduction of $l 11,490 by this action. These facilities are also permitted with the State of Colorado, Oil and
<br />Gas Conservation Commission, and are subject to [he Commission's bonding requirements.
<br />The Gulden Eagle Mine is located on State Hwy. 1? approximately 30 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado, in
<br />Sections 20, 21, 28 3 29, T33S, R67W. These sections can be located on the USGS 7.5 minute Vigil
<br />quadrangle map. The Mine ceased production on December 31, 1995. In accordance with [he approved
<br />reclamation plan, sealing of the mine shafts was completed by May 1996; removal of surface facilities,
<br />foundations and footers by November 1996; and rough and fmal grading, returning the surface to
<br />approximate original contour, and establishment of drainage channels and controls by January 1997.
<br />Seeding and mulching of the disturbed aeeas was completed by June 1997. All of these reclamation areas
<br />will remain under the reclamation bond requirement with no reduction N bond amount resulting from this
<br />proposed action.
<br />Any written comments, objections or requests for a public hearing or informal conference regarding this
<br />bond release application must be submitted [o the Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313 Sherman Street
<br />Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203 by May 10, 1998.
