Susan Mowry
March 31, 1987
Page 2.
Through the analysis of onsite parameters and revegetation
success of disposal areas at nearby mine sites, WECC believes
this variance provides adequate information for CMLRD to approve
a reduction in the cover requirement. The economics of today's
coal industry dictates utilization of existing literature and
previous onsite analysis. Therefore, we have attempted to reach
a logical conclusion for the revegetation issue without
initiation of extensive research programs. Also, utilization of
less than four feet of cover will minimize material handling and
reduce costs for reclamation while achieving fully adequate
revegetation success.
Should you have any questions regarding this application, please
do not hesitate to call me.
S~erely,
,~jrit~rd
~~"_-
Dennis P.
