EXHIBIT "J" <br />Vegetation Information <br />This area is very and and results in limited vegetation. Current vegetation consists of <br />low rabbit brush, kochia, squirrel tail, russian thistle, blue grams, Indian Ricegrass, <br />sand dropseed, traces of prickly pear cactus„ and crested wheatgrass. There is only <br />15 percent ground cover. The range site in this location is Mountain Outwash #281. <br />Recommendations <br />There is very shallow topsoil (4 to 6 inches deep) in this area and it should be <br />stockpiled for future reuse when excavation is completed. If possible a layer of 4 to 6 <br />inches of topsoil needs to be evenly spread over the excavated area as a base for any <br />planned revegetation efforts. <br />Slopes to be seeded should have a maximum slope of 3H:1V. <br />Due to the low annual precipitation, supplemental irrigation may be needed for two to <br />three years to get these species established. Mulching may be needed especially on <br />the south and west facing slopes. Seed should be drilled across the slopes and not <br />up and down and should be planted _ to _ inch deep. <br />Seeding should be done prior to July 1 or after October 1 each year to utilize best <br />moisture conditions. No grazing should be allowed the first two years to allow the <br />grasses to become established. <br />Seeding in this area is risky and the chance of success is slim especially if <br />supplemental irrigation is not provided. With supplemental irrigation chance of <br />success would only be about 50 percent. Irrigation is dependent on available. water <br />rights. <br />CORRECTED 5!8!04 <br />
