EXHIBIT "G"
Water Information
6.4.7(2,a) See Existing Condition, Exhibit C
6.4.7(2,b) The only known aquifer is the Closed Basin Unconfirmed Aquifer of the
San Luis Valley.
The operator is entering into agreement with the Rio Grande Canal Water Users
Association to utilize inactive portions and reclaimed portions of the excavation as a
recharge basin for waters owned by the Associations. All contained within the
excavation limits on the subject property; no discharge of surface or recharge waters
to surrounding areas will occur.
This aquifer recharge system will store water obtained from the Rio Grande Canal in
the summer months. During the winter months, the stored water will return to the
aquifer through the alluvium. This will help to maintain a steady water table
throughout the year and reduces the need for augmentation water to account for
evaporative losses.
Surface runoff from disturbed areas will be contained within the boundaries of the
subject property. Based upon the existing site conditions and the pre-mining
contours, no stormwater control structures will be necessary to prevent stormwater
~;~~` +' ~~ P discharge from affected areas of the site. The proposed operation will require no
consumption usage of water for either mining or processing of material; water for
emission control will be supplied from off-site sources.
The water utilized in the operation will be obtained through the substitute water supply
plan required by the Colorado Division of Water Resources. The details of the water
amounts and sources will be provided in the substitute water supply plan, a copy of
which will be provided to the Division of Minerals and Geology when it is approved.
