L•S
Dear Jim:
Bear Coal Company requests a minor revision to its existing Recla-
mation Plan for the Bear #2 mine.
As part of the backfill of the #2 mine, a minor change from the
approved plan is being proposed. The proposed backfill now in-
volves placement of mine waste material (roof and floor with some
coal) on the existing portal level. The material will be placed
12 feet to 15 feet back from the edge of the portal bench. The
material will be placed against the highwall and have a final
slope of not greater than 1V:2I1.
Material will be placed by trucks and/or scrapers and compacted
to 958 (as possible) Standard Proctor Density. After final place-
ment of the waste material, a cover of one (1) foot of clean soil
will be placed. The clean soil will be revegetated. The waste
material will be obtained from the Mt. Gunnison Mine of the West
Elk Coal Company.
All responsibility for monitoring and stability of this area, as
indicated in Bear Coal Company's M&R Plan will be the responsibility
of the Bear Coal Company.
A copy of the final as built cross section and volumes of the
backfill will be sent to MLRD upon completion.
Your timely response to this request would be appreciated as we
would like to complete this activity while the weather is still
favorable.
Should you have any questions, please call 929-5775.
Sincerely,
William A. Bear
President
