E3~HIBIT D - MINING FLAN (REVISED) (continued)
Sand and gravel strata, which underlies the overburden, comprises
the marketable product of this mine. This material will be exca-
vated and processed, on the basis of market demand, by three general
methods:
a. A portion will be excavated, loaded directly into trucks,
hauled from the project site in pit run gradation, and
marketed as pit run base material.
b. A portion will be crushed and screened to provide graded
and sized sand and gravel products. Stockpiles of such
graded materials will be established and maintained in
sufficient quantity to meet market demands for these
graded products. These stockpiles will be located as
shown on Exhibit C, Mining Plan Map (Revisedl, Layout
of Facilities, which also shows future location of the
crushing an~i screening operation.
c. Output from the crushing and screening operation will
also providE~ aggregates for on-site operation of a con-
crete batch plant, which will support a mobile concrete
pre-mix truck fleet operation. Location of this exist-
ing batch plant is as shown on Exhibit C, Mining Plan
Map (Revised), Layout of Facilities.
Ground water is encountered at about four (4) feet below ground
surface throughout tt-~e project area. To lower this water table
sufficiently to permit sand and gravel extraction and processing,
a stilling basin and 800 g.p.m. electric pumping station has been
established at the Southeast Corner of the project area. Ground
water is disposed of by pumping it into the adjacent Arthur Ditch
in accordance with contractual arrangements with the Arthur Ditch
Company. Colorado Department of Health, Water Quality Control
Division, has issued NPDES Permit Number COG-500085, Larimer
County, covering this operation; expiration date of this existing
permit is midnight 30 September 1987. This de-watering point will
be the only such point established, and will serve the project
throughout the life of the mine; it will be the last part of the
project area to be reclaimed.
No excavation or mining will be done on the 5.471 acre service and
support area of the permit. Upon completion of mining operations
and reclamation in the=_ 9.956 acre area of the adjoining mine, this
service and support area will be cleared of all equipment, materials
and facilities, and returned to agricultural use as it was before
involvement with mini~zg of sand and gravel under auspices of this
permit.
All aspects of the operation including access and service roads,
processing areas, off:_ces, scales, stockpile areas and all other
mine related activitiEas are contained within the boundary of the
15.427 acre permit arE~a. (See Exhibit C, Mining Plan Map (Revised),
Layout of Facilities). The only access to this site is via North
Taft Hi11 Road at the Southwest Corner of the permitted area.
