All exploration activities will be completed by (mo/yr) 11/06
All reclamation activities will be completed by (mo/yr) 12/06
3. If the surface is owned by a person other than the person who intends to
explore, give a description of the basis upon which the person who will
explore claims the right to enter such azea for the purpose of conducting
exploration and reclamation (attach supporting documents, if applicable):
N/A
4. Attach a description of the land to be affected. For example: The condition of
the topsoil, the general hydrology, type of vegetation and topography, Rule
2.02(2)(e).
Response to Rule 2.02(2)(e):
Trapper mine desires to explore the development potential of the deep coal reserves
present within the current boundaries of the surface mining permit. This Notice of
intent includes thirteen (13) exploration drill holes (at 12 drill sites) that aze proposed
for drilling. The conditions of each site are described as follows:
OS-LW20:
This drill site is located in a currently disturbed area of the mining permit area
between an ash pit and topsoil storage azea. The site was previously drilled as hole
95-LW 13. This hole will be core drilled from the surface to approximately 40 feet
below the "B" seam. During the coring process, several in-situ stress measurements
will be made using anover-coring technique. The site is located adjacent to an
existing road. The area is currently not vegetated and the slope is gentle (<5%). The
drill pad will be approximately 100 feet squaze. A reserve pit shall be dug using a
backhoe. The reserve pit shall be approximately 20 feet X 10 feet and 8 feet deep. No
new acreage will be disturbed with this drill site. The site will be occupied by drilling
equipment for approximately 12 to 15 days.
OS-LW21:
This site is located on a gentle slope (<4%) between a reclaimed azea and a power
line right of way. The site is located adjacent to an existing mad servicing the power
line. Access to the site will be gained by traveling an existing road along the power
line right of way. Topsoil will be removed from the site and stored at the end of the
drill pad, which shall be nominally 100 feet squaze. A reserve pit shall be dug using a
backhoe. The mud pit shall be approximately 20 feet X 10 feet and 8 feet deep. The
acreage disturbed for the drill site will be approximately .23 acres. The site will be
occupied by drilling equipment for approximately 7-10 days.
