r
,•
Permit Ilo. C-83-059
April 4, 1988
Page 2
5. Please submit three (3) copies of Map 12. It was not present in
any of our copies of your permit application.
6. The reclamation bond was re-calculated using a new system which was
developed by Division staff in 1986. This system uses operating
cost data for earthmoving equipment derived from the Cost Peference
Guide. This results in less-conservative but more realistic cost
estimates. Due to the reduction in conservatism, we found it
necessary to increase the level of detail in our estimates, as you
will see. Attached are my calculations for your review and
comment. I made several assumptions concerning sizes of structures
and amounts of material. If my assumptions are incorrect or if you
have better information available, please let me know,
There are several items for which I could not complete my
calculations. These items are listed below. I will adjust my
calculations when I receive your response. It appears, however,
that your current bond is well within range of the attached
calculations.
a. What is the volume of concrete to be removed helow the
control tower and at the fines reclaim system retaining wall
(length, width and depth)?
b. What is the volume of metal and concrete to be removed
associated with the walkway and staircase?
c. What is the volume of the control tower?
d. What are the sizes of the primary and secondary substations?
e. How much does the car puller weigh?
f. Please submit cost estimates for installation of the straw
bales during interim sediment control and contour furrows.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call,
Sincerely,
.~
Susan J. Mo
Reclamation Specialist
SJM/rj a
Enclosure(s)
6506E
