~ III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
Mined Land Reclamation Board
1313 Sherman Street Rm. 423
Denver, Co. 80203
To whom it may concern:

~
_:,
Sn,•
aP 2 6 199~~~
;V~f ED LAM11G

In reply to letter attached we would insist the Poll wing
strictly adhered to;
1.In part 1 of legal-change "Except those lands west
of Colorado Hwy #9; TO READ EXCEPT THOSE LA DS
WEST OF PLATTE RIVER."
2. The land to be reclaimed as the work progress
not in the year 2000 when the Mining Company h
taken its Gold and is long gone. We suggest th
in 1-2'~ acre sections, as mining work is compl
total reclamation be also completed. Trees are
be removed from said 1-2~acre section and reel
to be used on last section. Then as mining con
to said second 1-2'~ acre section, previous sec
receive trees from second section that has bee
shaped to conform with surrounding natural ter
top soil returned and re-seeded with natural m
ain tundra grasses and wildflowers. Leaving th
"Historic Post-mining" is not accectable!!!!!!
s,
s
t
to
nted
inues
ion
re-
a m ,
unt-
area
!.
3. Restrict hours to 12 or less a day. Five (5) }lays
a week, Monday thru Friday.
Within a 5 mile radius of Alma there is so much distr ction,
pollution, scared remains from mining and current exp otation
of our natural beauty, that we MUST stop this constan RAPE
and DEATH of our mountains.
At 10,000+ feet in elevation it takes a planted pine ree
decades to reach maturity, and so much longer than th t if
nature is left to re-seed a pine. The grasses and flo ers
never grow back on the rock piles left from mining, a 1 that
remains is ugly and desolate.
To the North of Alma, a Mill site is a constant sourc of
air pollution and a health hazard to our community. T is has
been seen by Gov. Romer last fall and nothing has bee to
correct this problem. A problem that has been in exis ence
for several years.
The Gulch to the West of Alma, Buckskin Gulch, has be n torn,
scared and left in uglyness. I understand L-he mining ompany
who wanCS Co do the above land is also in ncgoCitatio s for
a Loryc scymenL oC land Ch~L bcyins aC Lhc f~laLLC Riv r and
runs through Alma up into Buckskin Gulch, making our oncerns
even more viable and in need of support.
