Skyline Mine conducted longwall mining beneath Burnout Creek, a stream channel similar in
characteristic to Dry Fork of Minnesota Creek. This particular longwall mining was approved by
Utah's Division of Oil, Gas and Mining. It would be interesting to meet with those involved and to see the
effected area. Perhaps we can mutually learn something that will apply to our South of Divide permit
application and longwall mining beneath Dry Fork.
have made contact with Chris Hansen, Environmental Coordinator at Canyon Fuel Company, to
accomodate this meeting. He suggests a tour of Skyline on either June 2 or June 3, 2004. The tour
could occur in one day's time, first meeting at the mine to get familiar with the Skyline project and then
proceed to the field to see the impacts to the ground and the stream channel. Travel to and from Skyline
would be additive to the one day planned for the tour.
Please let me know if you are interested in participating and if either of these dates works for you. Once
we settle on a date I will let Chris know so he can make plans. Please contact me at your earliest
convenience.
Sincerely,
' v`'`^ v . ~ ~~
Phil G.
