Pure Live Seal/acre <br />In addition to the above mentioned seeding, the operator will plant <br />other vegetation in an attempt to provide cover for waterfowl; an <br />exact species list or locations have not yet been determined. However, <br />Durham Sand and Gravel will cooperate with the Division of Wildlife in <br />establishing a varied shoreline environment as determined by both the <br />Division of Wildlife and Durham Sand and Gravel..- It is expected that <br />a species list would include such things as native willows, cattail, <br />native and non-native feeds to provide a short term food supply for <br />waterfowl. <br />Below is a phase by phase description of reclamation activities which will <br />occur in each phase: <br />Phase I <br />The "peninsula" located on the eastern edge of the area will not be <br />mined, however, the banks-will be reduced to a flatter grade using <br />a dozer to eliminate any highwalls. The west edge of Phase I will be <br />backfilled and the shoreline areas will be sealed. <br />Phase II <br />The east edge of Phase II will be left as is with the exception that <br />the shoreline will be seeded. All that will remain along the east edge <br />will be a "ribbon" of undisturbed land between existing water surface <br />and the newly created water surface. The west and south edges will be <br />backfilled and seeded as will the "ribbon" shoreline. <br />Phase III <br />The north and east edges of the area will be backfilled and seeded. <br />Phase III-A <br />The north and east edges of the area will be left with a "ribbon" of <br />land separating old water surface and new. Shoreline areas will be seeded. <br />Phase IV <br />The southwest end of the area consists of a slough and old gravel pits <br />which represent an area which may not be mined, but left as a marsh area. <br />The decision to mine through these areas cr retain them will be made <br />after the operator has a better idea of the actual amounts of over- <br />burden and topsoil available for reclamation. If sufficient quantities <br />of overburden are not available for reclamation, then the marsh areas <br />will be mined up to and opening this to open water. If overburden is <br />available then the area will be mined out and the area will .be backfilled <br />
