..SECTION C - MINING AND RECLAMATION PLANS
Mining is proposed to be accomplished over a twenty-five
year period from 15 tracts phases as noted on Extraction Plan.
Concurrent reclamation is to take place with the ongoing mining
activity.
Mining will be a wet pit operation, utilizing a dragline and
dredge. Plases I through VII will utilize a dragline due to the
fact that the material to be mined is 30 feet .in thickness nr les8.
Phases ZII-A through X-A will utilize a dredge as the sand and
gravel deposits exceed 30 feet in thickness. The removal and
proper storage of topsoil and overburden for each phase will be
conducted according tc the standards set forth by Weld County and
the State of Colorado and noted on the Extraction Plan. Due to
the fact that the area to be mined,.total~inq 163.990 acres + lies
~:ithin the One Hundred Year Flood Plain, all operations will be
conducted with portable equipment. No dewatering shall take place;
nor shall any channeling of the Cache La Poudre River take place.
$eclamation, starting with the first phase and until final
completion, will be an ongoing process with backfilling and
cont~ring of the land as part of the mining operations. At the
completion of the mining, 128.539 acres will be one lake and
water level will be kept at or above the water level of the
adjoining Cache La Poudre River. 35.630 acres will be reclaimed
for agricultural use. The reclaimed land will be leveled to pre-
existing topography or floodproofed to an elevation above the
Intermediate Regional Flood Plan. Grassing and tree planting
will take place immediately upon completion of each phase in
those areas above water. Only 163.990 acres will be mined out
of 229.890 acres available due to the fact the property contains
the Poudre River Waterway and approximately 95 acres of abandoned
gravel pits. The nearness of several residences along the
southern boundary of the property on 16th Street prevent additional
extraction.
At the present time reclamation costs are estimated to be
$1,000,00 per acre for replacement of topsoil and seeding with
natural grasses. Annual reports will be made to the Colorado
Mined Reclamation Board on the anniversary date of each permit
year.
To insure safety, protect property, and security for the
san3 and gravel classification plant, a mobile office building
and a mobile home for operator will be placed near the access
road.
-3-
