Barnhart ~~(9:
212 West 13th Street
Pueblo, Colorado 81003
Dear Lloyd:
You have advised that Southwest Ready-Mix, Inc. needs to have
an assured 5 year source of water for its gravel pit operation.
Southwest Ready-Mix has been purchasing its water supply from
the Pueblo Board of Water works annually. The Pueblo Board of
Water Works does not normally enter into contracts for more than
one year for the sale of water to entities outside its normal water
service area but is always open to negotiations.
In the event that the pueblo soard of Water Works should
happen to not have water available for sale in any year, Southwest
is a member of the Arkansas River Groundwater Users Association
which was formed a few years ago to supply augmentation water to
its members.
Farther, Southwest is irrigating land under two center pivots
and has over 100 acres which it has already dried up and that is
available for augmentation credit.
P~rther, Southwest is in water court with an application for
an augmentation plan under which the needed water will be made
available as needed.
Farther, Southwest will shortly become an owner of shares in
the Excelsior Ditch Company and will have that water available for
its operation.
Based on all of the above, I do not expect Southwest Ready-
Mix, Znc. to run short of water to operate its ready-mix business.
'ncerely,
cc : John S1 iman L~~/~/
