Edna Mine: oe. 2
No written objections or requests for an informal conference regarding the bond release
application have been received by DMG. The Department of Energy provided written comments
to DMG conceming power transmission lines within the release azea and indicated they had no
objection to the proposed release.
DFD understands the release application applies to 591 reclaimed acres in the West Ridge
mining area and I6.5 reclaimed acres in the Center Ridge mining area. DMG holds performance
bonds via letter of credit no. SDC-780-320450 ($7,121,196.00) from Di-Ichi Kangyo Bank, and
United Pacific Insurance Company surety bond no. U80 61 57-28 ($50,520.00). DMG proposes
to release $821,613.00 of the performance bonds leaving $6,350,103.00 to assure completion of
the remaining reclamation work at the site if the work had to be performed by DMG. Final
reclamation liability is not released on the acreage noted in this Phase I application, and will not
be released until a Phase III bond release application is submitted and approved for this acreage.
DFD extends our thanks to your staff for coordinating this bond release through our office.
Please address any questions concerning this action to Henry Austin at (303) 844-1466 or E-mail
to haustin@osmre.gov.
Sincerely, ~
G" r' L f-
James F.
