SALT CREEK MINING COMPANY
P.O. Box 70
Loma, Colorado 8 1 5 24-0070
(303) 858-3608
September 30, 1991
Susan L. Morrison
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
1313 Sherman 5t. Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203-2273
RE: McClane Canyon Mine; C-004-BO
Technical Revision
Dear Ms. Morrison;
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
~~
OCT 0 2 1991
Mined Land
Reclamation Division
Enclosed is a revised Figure 1.1-2 that depicts the incidental
boundary change that we discussed last week. The additional area
to be included in the permit boundary will allow Salt Creek to
mine an area east of the McClane Fault. This revision would
follow the same projections as shown on Figure 2.1-1. The
expansion is necessary to allow for continued production while the
technical revision that was submitted in June of this year is
finalized.
Salt Creek anticipates that production from this area could begin
as soon as the middle of October. Unfortunately, the permitted
mining area is being extracted faster than anticipated. Salt
Creek could gain minor amounts of production from the current area
by splitting pillars but could destabilize the strata in the mine
and lead to safety and resource recovery problems in the future.
The Bureau of Land Management has been consulted about the
necessary revision; as well as, the short time frame that is
necessary for approval. If there are questions or if I can be of
assistance, please call.
Sincerely,
~~~~~
John M. Walters
Manager of Mine Services
CC: Federal Agency Mailing List
