III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
that had any bare spots were located where the elk, deer and
antelope had recently assembled. In short time, these areas would
be grassed over again. However, at the former topsoil stockpile,
designated as D77-1, and its associated light use road, both
located in parcel D-A-84 of block D A84-92, there was no cover. The
topsoil pile had been removed recently and there had not been
enough time for vegetation to reestablish itself.
During the field inspection, species diversity was also examined,
in order to evaluate if the reclamation efforts are proceeding
towards the future Phase 3 bond release. Table 2.2-2 of Trapper's
bond release submittal shows the results of the sampling for
species diversity. The field investigation showed that species
diversity was present on the reclaimed lands.
Erosional stability was examined in relation to the Phase 2 bond
release request. The subject of rills and gullies has already been
discussed in the Phase 1 bond release section of this report. For
Phase 2, the field inspection also considered whether or not the
reclaimed land was contributing additional sediment above the pre-
mine levels or above the adjacent land present day levels. There
was no evidence of sediment deltas or fans or other signs that
would indicate that the vegetation was not stabilizing the soil.
Previous field inspections also bear this out.
The subject of the proper functioning of the sedimentation control
system has been discussed in the Phase 1 section of this report, as
was the subject of the livestock ponds.
C:\WP51\TRAPPER\INSPBOND
5
