Ot N3tur8l ReSOUrCes <br />Flatiron Materials Company, Boulder, Colorado requests an amend- <br />ment to its mining permit to operate a sand and gravel mine at <br />East Rigden. The amendment parcels are known as the Morrison <br />and Baumgartner farms, and are described as follows: <br />Parcels of land situated in the east one-half <br />('~) of Section Twenty-Eight (28), and the south <br />one half (~) of the southwest one quarter (<) <br />of Section 2',, all in Township Seven (7) North, <br />Range Sixty-Eight (68) West of the 6th P.M „ <br />within the County of Larimer, State of Colorado, <br />containing 221 acres more or less. <br />Land Use <br />The proposed site lies in the flood plain of the Cache la <br />Poudre River, It is currently used for agriculture, A Colorado <br />and Southern Railroad track angles southeast through the <br />property. Surrounding Iand uses include agriculture (east, <br />south and west) and sand and gravel mining (south and north- <br />west). Colorado State University Nature Center is northwest <br />of the site near the Poudre River. Residences are scattered <br />nearby. An historic farm house, the Strauss cabin, is located <br />on 1.75 acres of land owned by the county in the southeast <br />portion of the site. Interstate 25 forms the east boundary of <br />the property. Sand and gravel mining has occurred in the area <br />for 16 years. <br />A-1 <br />
