They occur in Colorado as raze fall and spring migrants and winter
residents in western valleys, mountain parks, and on the eastern plains in all types of coniferous
and riparian forests (CDOW, 2004a).
The hillside south of, and adjacent to, the Project Area, including the proposed site where GVB-
LW3-03 will be drilled, is within a mature stand of Douglas-fi;r having an understory with a high
density of shrubs. This hillside is generally very steep, with aza average slope of 60 percent. The
likelihood of occurrence for northern goshawks in the Project Area is minimal due to the
observed steepness of slopes and dense vegetative understory. No effects to this species aze
anticipated as a result of this project.
The white-faced ibis is a fairly common spring migrant in the flan Luis Valley and on the eastern
plains. It is considered rare in mountain parks and a very rare nonbreeding summer visitor in
western valleys and mountain pazks. Preferred habitat includes wet meadows, marsh edges and
reservoir shorelines. No suitable habitat for the white-faced ibis is present within the Project
Area. No effects to this species aze anticipated as a result of this project.
1838-0xbow TES Survey_(10.25.04).doc
