Further review of
the area currently being mined indicates additional reserves do exist.
As we discussed during the first week of December, Colorado Yampa Coal
Company will be requesting this revision for all of the potentially mineable
reserves although, depending upon mining conditions, all of the reserves may
not be removed. Permit Renewal Map 5, Eckman Park Mine Plan, Roads, Power
Lines, and Facilities, shows the prospective mine plan for this section of
51 East. The cuts are numbered sequentially I through IV. Colorado Yampa
Coal Company will be mining Cut I during January of 1989. Each of the
following cuts will require an additional month of operation time. If all
four cuts are mined, coal production will cease in Area 51 East at the end
of April. Final grading for the cuts will occur during 1990.
Topsoil removal for Cut I will be initiated immediately. In order to
maintain a 100 foot buffer between the pit and reclamation/topsoil storage,
about 6250 CY of Topsoil Stockpil o. 1 need to be moved to the west
p~it.~xs~ing loca r. 4250 CY wi 1>be stripped from the area to
be mined. The stripped topsoi -includes the topsail moved as
described in Minor Revision 88-29 (Area 51 Topsoil Handling), will be
windrowed to the south of the active pit or moved to an existing stockpile,
if weather conditions permit. Topsoil will not be windrowed on the slope to
the east of the proposed pits. All windrowed and stockpiled topsoil will be
seeded if it is to remain in place over one year. The sum total of Topsoil
Stockpile No. 9 which requires moving is 9450 CY, with 3200 CY of that
amount being relocated during the mining of Cut .II. The total amount of
topsoil to be stripped from the entire proposed pit area (if all cuts are
mi)~ed) is 21,350 CY. During all stripping operations, if weather conditions
allow, topsoil will be stockpiled in existing stockpile locations.
Otherwise,
rv.u~r f ylj3l~~ I~I16ov
q I ~ ~~.J~ y r/~
CYPFt~.]S
~~
6~~°
W,. sJ
II)S
