RECLAMATION REPORT
ELLISON GRAVEL PIT
ACREAGE REDUCTION -PHASE IB
Penttit No: M-78-170. Rev. No: CN-1
Phase IB was part of the predecessor permit and mined out under that earlier permit. In 1984-1985 the
current Delta County Road and Bridge District No. 1 shop, storage buildings, and equipment garages were erected on
the prepared Phase B site. The nearly level top of the shale formation underlying the gravel deposit provided a goad
yard foundation, having less than six feet of overall surface relief across the mined out area. The surface was graded
and q gravel base put down. The yard area around the buildings has goad low relief drainage and has been finish
graveled where needed during the past fifteen years. The accompanying photographs show various views of the Phase
IB area reclaimed as the R&B District No. l shop. Since the Phase IB area under the current mining reclamation plan
is [o'be reclaimed as industrial, the site requires no top soil placement, revegetation, nor other surface revitalization
bevoidthat described above.
The west side of Phase IB grades into natural existing undisturbed slopes as does [he north northeastern side.
The South side steps up to the unmined level of Phases II and III. The floor of the east side continues eastward into
the rained out portion of Phase [A. Phase IA when completely mined out will be reclaimed as an eastward extension
of [h; permanent R&B District No. l shop and yard area and incorporated into Phase ~.
The attached Reclaimed Sile Sketch Map of Phase IB depicts the location of the R&B District No. 1 shop.
gara;es, materials (cuh~erts, etc.) stockpile areas, footprint of the portable asphalt hot plant foundation pad. and also
shovys the final yard and gravel surface configurations. Since the yard has been inexistence in its current form for
over fifteen years, the surface drainage and gravel surface are very stabilized and little sediment removal or water ran
off o.curs during storms. However, as an additional precaution, a temporary shallow run off water settling pond has
been constructed along the east part of the southern edge of Phase ~. The settling pond primarily controls run off
flowl~ and any sediment from approximately 2/3rds of the reclaimed area of Phase IB and anv Flows corning off the
northern slopes of unmined Phases II and III directly south of Phase lB. The capacity of the temporary settling pond
has .; calculated 1.5 safeq• factor fora 100 year event. When Phases II and III are mined out and then reclaimed, the
southern drainage off Phase B will be incorporated into the reclamation of these two phases.
