CMLRB 112 Permit Application Amendment AGRA E&E Project E94-7033
Dowe Flats Mine August, 1994
EXHIBIT H -WILDLIFE INFORMATION
' Refer to Exhjbit H of the original CMLRB permit application M-93-041, Southdown's responses
dated January 10, 1994 (Item 7) and February 21, 1994 to CMLRB adequacy review letters,
' and the Burrowing Owl Survey by Western Ecosystems, Inc. dated September, 1993.
A black footed ferret survey will be completed by October, 1994 and the results submitted
' to the Division. On-going wildlife monitoring and surveys are being performed as required by
Boulder County (raptors and prairie dogs). It has been reported recently that bubonic plague
has impacted the prairie dog population of Dowe Flats, but the extent of mortality is not
t currently known.
The conveyor system and associated fencing could impact big game migration (e.g. whitetail
deer). The applicant commits to working with the Colorado Division of Wildlife to design the
system with adequate wildlife crossing locations. We currently do not have final engineering
design of the conveyor, so the exact location and type of crossings cannot be shown. An
' assessment of the placement of the conveyor system with respect to wildlife movement in
the permit area is attached as Exhibit H-1.
1

1
1

1
t
L~
H-1
~AGRA
Earth & Environmental
