J , III IIIIIIIII IIII III
999
Here is what's in my file regarding alternate post mine land use at the Meeker
Mine. There area couple of documents missing but, the story is there. In a nut
shell, AFO issued a TDN saying that retention of an 1800 square foot concrete
pad and an adjacent gravel parking pad for possible use as a mobile home site in
support of the landowner's guided hunting business was illegal without the area
being designated as an alternate post mine land use. DMG eventually agreed
and required the permittee to revise the post mine land use. An alternate land
use of recreation was approved.
10/27/92 Fritz's inspection report
Fritz was alone on his inspection because he missed DMG's earlier bond release
inspection.
He discusses a "yard" with a mobile home sized concrete pad and gravel
parking area. There was also a power pole, electric switch box, transformer and
PVC pipes sticking out of the ground. Fritz asked if these structures were to be
left after bond release.
He discusses an MR approved 9/11/85 addressing retention of structures at the
landowner's request. Fritz said he needed more information.
He said he did not concur with request for Phase 2 bond release without several
additional pieces of information requested in his report- one of which is the item
above.
1!25/93 OSM letter to DMG
Regarding the concrete pad area, OSM said, "The landowner's request clearly
indicates that these areas are to be used for residential/recreational uses. This
constitutes an alternative post mining land use which is in conflict with the
approved post mining land use of grazing/wildlife." It also says, "This area, the
office complex, will have to be reclaimed or the mine plan must be revised and
approved, in accordance with Colorado's approved program, to reflect the new
land use."
3!12(93 OSM letter to DMG
Letter says, "Finally, AFO's letter of January 25, 1993, indicated that the office
complex in the Northern No. 1 Mine would have to be reclaimed or the mine plan
revised and approved, in accordance with Colorado's approved program, to
reflect the new land use proposed for the retained facilities
(residential/recreational)."
