Mine No. 2 Permit Renewal - Permit No. C-80-002 Dear County Commissioners: Pursuant to Rule 2.08.5(3)(b> of the regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining, you are hereby notified that the right to renew a valid, existing coal mining and reclamation permit was issued to O.C. Coal, Inc., on January 18, 1982 for the O.C. No. 2 Mine. The underground mining operation is located 16 miles north of the town of Gunnison and is approximately 2.6 miles east of Baldwin. More specifically, the permit area is located in Gunnison County in the State of Colorado in the S 1/2 of lots 1 and 2, which said lots are co-extensive with the SE 1/4 of NE 1/4 and the SW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 16, Township 15 South, Range 86 West, 6th P.M. This area is 80 acres in size. The permit area can be found ~n the USGS Mount Axtell 7.5 minute Quadrangle. A review of past permit renewals showed that the length of the previous permit term exceeded five years. Because of the right of successive renewal, the original expiration date of January 18, 1987 passed. The O.C. No. 2 Mine was granted a five-year permit May 15, 1987. Essentially, the O.C. No. 2 Mine had a greater-than-five-year permit term. The original permit was issued January 18, 1982. The Division would like to reset the permit expiration date to this date.
