Walther <br />Executive Director <br />Michael B. tong <br />Division Director <br />1) Letter, US Fish and Wildlife Service, August 30, 2001 (ES/CO:CDMG MS 65412 GJ) <br />2) Letter, Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, October 3, 2001, Subject: Coal Ridge Coal Mine <br />No. 1, Permit C-84-065, Water Depletion <br />Dear Mr. Leachman, Mr. Johnston and Mr. Stover: <br />A file has been recovered at the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) that indicates a <br />Biological Opinion has been prepazed, and that [he New Castle Energy Corporation (formerly [he Storm <br />King Mines, Inc.) has made a $5,313.43 payment to offset all of the impacts of consumptive water use at <br />the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine. <br />In this regard, please find the following selected papers from the file enclosed: <br />1) Letter, US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) 3 August 1983. The requirements of Section 7(c) were <br />identified in this letter. <br />2) Letter, USFWS, January 8, 1985, SE/SLC 6-5-85-F-007. A copy of a draft Biological Opinion for the <br />construction and operation of the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine was vansmitted to Storm King Mines for <br />review and comment by this letter. <br />3) Letter, Storm King Mines (New Castle Energy Corporation, NCEC), January 22, 1985, to UAFWS. <br />NCEC acknowledged receipt of the draft Biological Opinion and committed to a one time donation of <br />$5,313.43 to the conservation fund. <br />4) Memorandum, USFWS, February 7, 1985, to the Disttict Manager, Bureau of Land Management <br />(BLM) (the BLM as lead federal agency). A biological opinion was provided [o the BLM by this letter. <br />
