Renner <br />Senior Reclamation Specialist <br />Mined Land Reclamation Division <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />RE: Mowbray Gravel Pit (File M-79-166) <br />Dear Mr. Renner: <br />This office represents Mrs. Mowbray and will work with <br />you in connection with your letter of August 15, 1990, in <br />connection with the closing of the mining permit for gravel. <br />The last mining took place in about 1985 and has not been <br />operated since that time. It is not anticipated that it will be <br />ogerated in the future, at least by Mrs. Mowbray. The State <br />Highway Department has terminated access to Highway 50 from one of <br />the roads leading to the pit. <br />We enclose herewith a number of pictures which were taken <br />on about August 27, 1990, for your information. The pit itself is <br />ccvered by the Gunnison River. Thy storage area, which also was <br />apparently mined, has been cleaned up as shown in the pictures. <br />There are three piles of gravel which have been sold to Suckow <br />Brothers who do excavation and construction work and they are <br />removing the same ~.s )Teeded and will eventually remove all of the <br />three piles of gravel. <br />The bank of the storage and crusher area will be valuable <br />for containing the Gunnison River in the event of flooding. <br />
