Based
upon our recent conversations and reviews, BME responds as follows:
• Your letter proposes a refuse area cover thickness reduction to 3 feet instead of 2 feet
requested by BME. We propose that a thickness of 2.5 feet with a minimum topsoil
thickness of 12 inches be accepted. This thickness should be more than adequate as
concluded in the Refuse Area Revegetation Study.
• We request that no change be made in the seedmix for future refuse areas. We had
contemplated changing the seed mix to correspond with the recently approved seed
mix for RP-1. We have not seen and evaluated the success gained with the RP-1
seed mix. It may be as much as five years before we conclusively determine the
revegetation success in RP-i with the new seed mix. We propose that the seed mix
for other refuse areas be changed in the Tuture to conform with the RP-1 seed mix if
the desired success is achieved in the RP-1.
• We are satisfied that DMG agrees to reduce the woody plant density to 500 stems per
acre from the current standard of 3200 stems per acre.
I have revised page IV-23 of the permit to show a cover thickness of 2.5 feet. Please discard Table
V-i5A (pages V-49B and V-49C) submitted with application since this table will remain unchanged
in the permit to show seed mix for RP-1 only. Page V-58 submitted with the application remains unchanged.
PO Box 33424
Denver, CO 80233 3424
Telephone 303/450-9976
Fax 303/450-1042
E-mail w(alakewoodBpcisys.net
