<br />~~~ • • - - <br />III I II I II I II IIII III ,' r ,~ <br />999 <br />Reclamation Plan <br />for <br />Airport Gravel Pit <br />Operator <br />Las Animas County <br />The reclamation of this gravel Pit will occur when mining <br />operations cease. The land use after mining will return to <br />rangeland. The affected area will be shaped and graded with <br />slopes not greater than 4:1. <br />Once shaping and grading is completed the area will be top <br />soiled using stock piled material. Top soil will be placed <br />evenly over the entire disturbed area with depths of not <br />less than 4 inches or greater than 12 inches. <br />Top soil shall be free of racks and other debris. <br />A cover crop of either oats or sorghum will be drilled over <br />the entire disturbed area. Oats will be drilled at a rate <br />of 25-30.bulk pounds per acre prior to May 10. After May 10 <br />sorghum will be drilled at rate of 8-12 bulk pounds per <br />acre. <br />The cover crop will not be hayed or grazed. <br />The area will be seeded to the attached mixture in November <br />following establishment of the cover crop. <br />Drilling will occur directly into standing oat or sorghum <br />residues. There will be no tillage operations prior to <br />drilling the grass. <br />Once grass seeding is complete the area will be protected <br />from livestock use until the stand is established. <br />Weed control either chemical or mechanical will be preformed <br />as required.
