Mr. Joseph Dudash - 2 - October 16, 2001
Structural Demolition (Task 9061
The division itemizes costs for the removal of "Radial Stacker #1"and i[s footings for
$19,218. This stacker and footings were removed during the installation of the downhill
conveyor and should be removed from the demolition calculation.
Under the heading of Clean Material Storage Areas, the Division itemizes costs for the
removal of mist disposal items for $14,507 for the "Old Truck Loadout" azea. This area
no longer exists as a material storage area.
4. Fill vent shaft (Task 85e1
If this task is for [he Freeman Gulch vent shaft, then it is calculated in error, because the
Freeman Gulch vent shaft is only 6 feet in diameter while this calculation indicates a
diameter of 18 feet. If this task is for the Fan Shafr on the Utility Bench, then the backfill
calculation may be in error as to volume of backfill material (18' diam x 14' - ?). If this
item is for the fan Shafr, the reclamation expense for the filling of the Freeman Gulch fan
Shafr may be missing from the calculation.
Furthermore, according to the approved permit map, Map 29, there is no requirement for
a steel saddle or concrete plug for the sealing of ventilation shafts a[ the Bowie No. 2
Mine. Bowie intends to seal the shafrs in accordance with the approved plan. Please note
that the ventilation shaft has been fully grouted and lined from top to bottom and the vent
shaft in Freeman Gulch is grouted through a water producing zone. Neither shaft
penetrates an aquifer. Reclamation costs for these shafrs should therefore be calculated
only as the cost of placing backfill material into the shafts and capping them with an 8 inch
slab and then placing 4 feet of cover material over the caps.
Please contact us with any questions or concerns regazding this submission with copies of
all written correspondence sent to Mr. Wm. A. Bear, Jr., P. O. Box 483, Paonia, CO 81428.
Sincerely,
%~~<~G~
' J. E. Stover, P. E.
Consulting Engineer
