The goal is to
remove and dispose of the remaining structures, west of the former roundhouse, including
buildings and culverts. I have yet to inspect any of this work yet but will do so the
first week of November. This may be related to your comment about an access, or easement,
at the "west end of the property". Ron Thompson has indicated that he is aware of this
access and any reclamation work done will ensure that access remains. This, of course,
has nothing to do with the legalities of the access, which is outside of the jurisdiction
of the Division of Minerals and Geology. Also, my understanding from Ron was that some
hunters were on the property at various times and were hunting only the West Mine. Any
contact number for the hunting would be provided by the surface land owner. The
Division's only concern about hunting is staying out of the line of gunfire.
The bond release inspection scheduled for this Wednesday, November 2, deals exclusively
with the two Apache Canyon vent shafts on the BdO, where we recently approved a land use
change to Industrial. The inspection is really only a formality and if the DOW does not
have any concerns related to the bond release, attendance by the surface landowner (DOW)
is not required. Again, it is our understanding that the DOW has an agreement with XTO
regarding limitations on general surface use and material storage. This bond release does
not affect that agreement in any way. Release of these two reclaimed vent shafts will
remove all liability from Basin Resources for these two shafts and eliminates any future
DMG involvement as well. Assuming approval, the lands will be removed from the Golden
Eagle permit area and return to full control of the surface owner.
We will let you know the results of the bond release inspection and you should also
receive documentation of the approval or denial of the bond release, along with our
written findings.
If you have any questions, please call or email.
-----Original Message-----
From: Holder, Bob [mailto:Bob.Holder@state.co.us]
Sent: Friday, October 28, 2005 10:10 AM
To: Gorham, Kent; Henry Austin Mr. (E-mail)
Cc: Ron Thompson (E-mail); Trujillo, Al
Subject: RE: Golden Eagle SL-05 Bond Release Inspection
Thank You, Kent. We have a scheduled meeting in Pueblo that day so may
not be able to attend. I would appreciate information from any of the
group of respondents as to the status of the property. Hunters are
presently utilizing the mine property (NOT Bd0 SWA hunters) and would
like a contact number. DOW is supposed to have an access at the west
end of the property as part of the Bd0 SWA purchase but has mired
somewhere. Would appreciate any response...
BOB HOLDER
-----Original Message-----
From: Gorham, Kent [mailto:kent.gorham@state.co.us]
Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2005 11:51 AM
To: Henry Austin Mr. (E-mail)
Cc: Ron Thompson (E-mail); Holder, Bob; Trujillo, Al
1
