t
exceed 21,000 feet, and the remainder of the panels are approximately 18,000 feet or less. The mine layout is
shown on Map 23, Mine plan.
As shown on Map 23, 10 Right and 9 Right arc the northern most gateroad and panel, respectively. The
gateroads and panels will be mined in a southerly direction which will allow for gravity drainage away from the
panel.
Panels 8 Rigltt and 9 Right, which are in this flue year permit term, will result in the undermining of Routt
County Road 33, power lines, telephone lines, Foidel and Middle Creeks, and the limited alluvial valley floors
associated with these creeks, and the Southern Pacific railroad spur servicing the mine. In reference to the 9
Right panel, it will be approximately 18,000 feet in length and will barely nick the southwest comer of the
established Foidel Creek AVF. Panel 8 Right will see limited activity located within the boundary of the
existing Middle Creek AVF. The undermining of these structures/features will be discussed in more detail in a
following section. During the subsequent five year permit term, mining will occur beneath private structures.
and those structures are shown on Map 23B, Structures and Renewable Resource.
EMD and Northern Minine District
The mining that is to occur in the remainder of the Eastern Mining District and the Northern Mining District is
located in areas previously discussed in Permit Revision 93-03. The area to be mined in this five-year permit
term is sliovvn on Map 23, Mine Plan. The five-year area is readily identified by the color-coding used in
creating the map. The mining layout, i.e. panel widths, gateroad dimensions, and cross-cuts, will be the same as
provided in PR 93-03, except that the dimensions may be based upon mining conditions encountered in the new
area. Also, the barrier width or location between entries in the northeast submains and the northeast mains may
vary based upon [Wining or geologic constraints.
During the five-year term, longvvall mining will be conducted under County Road 33, povverlines, Foidel.
Middle. and Fislt Creeks, the Fish Creek AVF, UP Railroad (Energy Spur), residences owned by the Ashleys,
and a pond and ditch owned by the Ashleys. Amore detailed discussion of undermining these structures will be
presented in a later section. During subsequent five-year terms, undermining of Fisli Creek and its AVF will
continue; these features are shown on Map 23B, Structures and Renewable Resources.
PR 97-04 2.05-10(d) Revised 3/26/97
