Holding Inc., Tower Pit, M-77-49'67"no"rr'n,
Dear Mr. Hammer:
The Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) has completed a technical
review of TR-O1. DMG also conducted an inspection and took
measurements of the disturbances and stockpiles on October 12, 1995.
Our measurements indicated that the disturbance totaled approximately
19.3 acres that would have to be reclaimed. The TR accounts for
approximately 8 acres of pit area (of which, only the perimeter would
require reclamation work) and 6-6.5 acres of crushing/staging area for
a total of 14-14.5 acres. The TR does not take into account the areas
that are already disturbed for the graveled parking area (.8 acres),
access road (1.3 acres), maintenance area (1.4 acres), topsoil
stockpile (1.6 acres), and the topsoil/overburden stockpile that is
east of the pit area (2.2 acres). The total pit and topsoil stripped
areas that would need surface reclamation total 5.7 acres and, even
after regrading the pit perimeter to 3H:lV or less steep slopes, would
still fall within the 8 acres designated in the TR as the maximum area
disturbed by a mining phase.
The inspection also indicated that sloping of the pit perimeter had
not yet occurred. Prior to any approval of a revision to a permit,
DMG wants to be reasonably sure that the revision reflects what actual
on-site conditions are or will be. This is so an accurate reclamation
bond can be calculated. Please change the revision to reflect
conditions as they are at the mine site prior to the new decision date
of November 27, 1995. Please take in to account the items mentioned
in this letter and the items in the letter of November 13, 1995 that
was FAXed and sent to you on that date.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
S' >~erely,,
~/~ ~; J~~
arl B.
