Appendix 12 Introduction
The procedure for collecting and analyzing humidity cell effluent is detailed in Volume VIII
Enclosure 20 of the Amendment 6 Adequacy Items. In summary, weekly drainages for each
sample are composited over a 4 week period, and these are submitted for trace element analyses.
This results in trace element data at 4 week increments over the duration of the humidity cell
test. The standard lab has been Chemax Laboratories Inc. The standard method has been ICP.
The standard suite and detection limit is given in the table I under Chemax.
Table 1. Listed below are the analyzed elements from the humidity cell drainages and their
detection limits. * Detection limit varies depending upon original job order, see raw data.
Element Chemax Accu-Labs
Aluminum <0.25 <0.1
Antimony <0.5, <0.1*
Arsenic < 0.005 < 0.005
Barium <0.25 <0.05
Beryllium <0.05
Bismuth <0.5
Cadmium <0.15 <0.0005
Calcium <0.25 <0.1
Chromium <0.05 <0.005
Cobalt <0.5
• Copper < 0.05 < 0.005
Gallium <0.5
Iron < 0.5 < 0.1
Lanthanum <0.5
Lead < 2.5 < 0.005
Lithium < 0.5
Magnesium <0.5 <0.05
Manganese < 0.5 < 0.005
Mercury <2.5 <0.0001
Molybdenum <0.25 <0.01
Nickel < 0.5 < 0.02
Phosphorus < 0.5
Potassium <2.5 <0.3
Scandium < 0.5
Selenium <2.5, <0.005* <0.005
Silver <0.25 <0.005
Sodium <0.25 <O.l
Strontium < 0.5 < 0.01
Thallium <2.5
Tin < 0.5
Titanium <0.1
Vanadium <0.15
Zinc < 0.05 < 0.005
