Accordingly, I developed a site-specific survey protocol through
consultation with the USFWS. This protocol was submitted to the USFWS and I
received verbal concurrence from them shortly thereafter.
Between August 7 and 10, 1994 ferret surveys were conducted throughout prairie
doge (Cynomys Zudovicianus) towns on and beyond the Dowe Flats Permit Area in
accordance with the approved protocol. No black-footed ferrets were detected.
A report documenting the above will be prepared shortly and forwarded to the
USFWS, Colorado Division of Wildlife, Boulder County, and the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board. In the interim, please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
(~L
Richard W. Thompson
Certified Wildlife Biologist
Western Ecosystems, Inc.
RWT/s
cc: M.
