PR-8 proposes to extend the ends of longwall
panels in the B seam under a portion of the national forest. 1n our review we find the following:
1. The proposed mine plan shows bleeder entries for three B seam panels under the forest. The
location of these bleeder entries falls beneath about the mid panel of Panel D7 (in the D seam).
Map 27 indicates that this area is in the "intermediate subsidence impact zone." The, GMUG
believes that this particular overlay of the mine workings may have an increased risk for surface
impacts. Therefore, we request that BRL provide additional site specific analysis on the
potential surface impacts of subsidence for the area on the GMUG where the B seam bleeder
entries underlie the D7 panel.
2. Depending on the outcome of the analysis in Item 1, the GMUG may also require some
additional surface monitoring in this area for surface cracking. We are especially concerned with
the potential for cracks to form in the Sheep Corral drainage. if cracks develop, BRL would be
responsible for repair.
Please contact Liane Mattson at the above telephone number if you have any questions.
- Sincerely,
~~~ J.~~~
SUSAN J.
