(Golder)
evaluated the stability of the Highway 67 Realignment Fill.
As stated in the text, the following stratigraphic model was used in the analysis:
Embankment Material will be on-site rockfill consisting of mainly sand, gravel
and cobbles with few fines. This compacted rockfill material is assumed to
have an internal angle of friction of 38 degrees with no cohesion.
Foundation Material is assumed to be a relatively high strength bedrock
material.
Using the aforementioned parameters, the following factors of safety were calculated:
Static Wedge Type Failure: 2.1
Pseudo-Static Wedge Type Failure: 1.6
Static Circular Type Failure: 1.9
Pseudo-Static Type Failure: 1.4
A Consolidated Undrained (CU) Triaxial test was performed on a sample of Pad No. 2
material. The data was plotted on a Mohr's Circle, and it was determined that the
material had an internal angle of friction of 42 degrees. Both the test data and the
Mohr's circle area attached. As this exceeds the values assumed in the stability
analysis, the material will function suitably from a geotechnical standpoint.
OFFICES IN AUSTRALIA, CANADA.
