Enron Coal Company has
requested a reduction in liability from 5307,000.00 to $184,071.00. The reduction in
liability reflects credit given for topsoil replacement and successful reestablishment
of vegetative cover on 16.24 acres of previously disturbed land.
The Meeker Area Mines are located in Rio 6lanco County, approximately ten miles east
of Rangely. The legal description of the land is as follows:
Rienau #2 Mine: 5.03 acres in the center of Section 29, Township 2 North, Range
93 West of the 6th Principal Meridian
Refuse Facility: 4.08 acres in the N1/2 of the SE1/4 of Section 20, Township 2
North, Range 93 West of the 6th Principal Meridian
Northern #1 Mine: 7.13 acres in the SE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 21, Township 2
North, Range 93 West of the 6th Principal Meridian.
Copies of the release request are available at the Rio Blanco County Courthouse in
Meeker, Colorado, and at the Division of Minerals and Geology in Denver, Colorado.
Any person with a valid legal interest which might be adversely affected by the
proposed decision or any responsible officer or head of any Federal, State or local
government agency which has jurisdiction by law or special expertise with respect to
any environmental, social or economic impact involved in the operation or which is
authorized to develop and enforce environmental standards with respect to such
operations may request an adjudicatory hearing and must state, with specificity, the
reasons why the hearing is requested and must be received within thirty (30) days of
the first publication of the proposed decision by the Division. The proposed decision
will be published in the Meeker Herald, on or about December 2, 1992.
Sincerely,
~.
Susan L.
