<br />Bowie Resources Limited, P.O. Box 483, Paonia, CO, 81428, has submitted a complete
<br />application for a permit revision to the Division of Minerals and Geology for its approved
<br />Bowie No. 2 Mine, mining permit No. C-96-083. The proposed revision provides for
<br />construction of new mine portals to provide access to private B Seam coal reserves and the
<br />Federal Coal reserves previously leased by application in the B Seam. The new portals will
<br />be located below and west of the existing Bowie No. 2 Mine D-Seam Portals. The new portal
<br />bench will be created by cut and fill techniques. Approximately 160,000 cubic yards will be
<br />excavated to create the new portal bench. A separate permit revision will be processed to
<br />obtain approval for the B-Seam mine plan.
<br />The mine facilities are located north of State Highway 1336 near the town of Bowie, CO. A
<br />pump station, two sediment ponds and unit train loadout are located south of State Highway
<br />1336. The Fire Mountain Canal is located south of the mine facilities and north of the unit
<br />train loadout. The North Fork of the Gunnison River is located south of the mine permit
<br />boundary. The mine permit area is located on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Bowie
<br />Quadrangle map within the following sections.

<br />The Bowie No. 2 Mine permit area contains 5,076 acres of land, 2,474 acres of private
<br />surface and 2,602 acres of Federal surface. Private minerals within the proposed permit
<br />area encompass 1958 acres with Federal minerals accounting for the balance of 3118 acres.

<br />objections or a request for an informal conference on the proposed permit revision may be
<br />submitted to and additional information obtained from the Division of Minerals and Geology
<br />at the above address. A request for an informal conference must be submitted to the
<br />Division of Minerals and Geology within 30 days of the last publication date of this notice.
