Based upon the results obtained
from the open trench, a mitigation plan was formulated and
submitted to the Division as a minor revision dated September 19,
1994. After some discussion with the Division concerning the M.R.,
HG employed the services of CTL/Thompson, Inc. to conduct an onsite
review of our mitigation plan. Mr. Mark Grey conducted a review of
the plan and agreed with our course of action with one exception.
Mr. Grey recommended that the drain be daylighted to the surface in
the adjacent drainage to the southeast rather than into the
reclaimed area as proposed. (See the attached CTL/Thompson
correspondence dated October 14, 1994 for additional details.) HG
provided a revised French Drain Design to the Division on September
29, 1994. Per the revised configuration, the French Drain was
completed on October 3, 1994 and should serve as a "clean water"
diversion directing water away from the mining disturbance. The
overall area was regraded and seeded on October 4, 1994. The
subject area will be checked next spring after snowmelt to
determine its effectiveness in preventing further movement of the
slump area and to monitor any flow from the drain. At this time it
is premature to predict the final outcome of this project.
Section 2, Items 2-6
The information is attached for the Division's records. We
have addressed Rules 2.03.4, 2.03.5 and 2.03.6.
