1
' Mr. Jim Burnell
' November 7, 1997
Page 2
1 Water levels increased substantially in Well 7 during 1997 from
previous years. The depth to water was 56.67 feet, an increase of
' nearly 16 feet over 1996. Total depth of the well is 110 feet.
Water levels have risen 95 feet in the last ten years. This
general increase in water levels indicate the recovery of the
' potentiometric surface due to cessation of mining at Canadian Strip
and more recently with the reclamation of the Kerr Mine to the
north. The snowpack during the winter of `96/`97 was average, but
' rainfall during the summer was elevated.
Well 7 is monitoring a slightly alkaline sodium bicarbonate water
of moderate salinity (TDS of 1430 mg/1), and moderate hardness (314
mg/1). The water meets all Colorado groundwater quality standards
except the secondary drinking water standards for iron, manganese
and sulfate.
Should you have questions or need. additional information concerning
hydrologic monitoring, please do not hesitate to let me know.
' Sincerely, ,

Jerry H.
