1
Ayyendu A - 7998 & 7997 VeReranon SampliaR Data
' The sample mean for production is converted to pounds per acre: 93.28 • 8.90309 =
830.48 pounds per acre.
' (3.) Big Sagebrush Reference Area sample mean (x) = 42.73 grams/1 mZ
' The sample mean for production is converted to pounds per acre: 42.73 • 8.90309 =
380.43 pounds per acre.
' Shrub Density-1998
Shrub density was systematically sampled in 1998 using a 25 square meter quadrant that was
1 randomly placed along each 50 meter cover belt transect. Data collected from the 25 square meter
quadrants was used to estimate the total woody stems per acre. The calculated number of stems
per acre within the reclaimed Phase areas I, II, and, III and Phase area IV was 774. Statistical
' analysis of the woody stems per acre conversion within the reclaimed areas demonstrates the
reference area standard of 500 stems per acre was exceeded in the sampling year (Table A-'n.
' Shrub Density-1997
' Shrub density was systematically sampled in 1997 using a 25 square meter quadrant that was
randomly placed along each 50 meter cover belt transect. Data collected from the 25 square meter
quadrants was used to estimate the total woody stems per acre. The calculated number of stems
per acre within the reclaimed Phase areas I, II, and, III and Phase area IV was 520. Statistical
analysis of the woody stems per acre conversion within the reclaimed areas demonstrates the
reference area standard of 500 stems per acre was exceeded th the sampling year (Table A-S).
1 Species Diversity-1998
' A review of Table A-9 demonstrates that the two reclaimed areas have at least three cool season
grasses and one forb species. The results of the shrub sampling show that all four reclaimed phase
' areas meet the requirement of two shrub species within the reclaimed vegetation community
(Tables A-11 through A-14 located at the end of this section). Therefore, all requirements for
species diversity stated within the Permit have been satisfied for the sampling year 1998.

' A-16
