E. Stover & Associates of March 25, 1999 <br />regarding responses to comments of DMG for the referenced technical revision. <br />It was requested that we review items 4 & 9 of said letter with regard to water resources <br />issues. Comments follow: <br />Item JJ4 - I would agree with Stover's (BRU response in that the surface hydrologic <br />system would not be expected to be influenced (diminished) by subsidence <br />phenomena at a depth of 800 feet in the underlying coal seam. In order to <br />affect water rights, J & M Springs and Pipeline Nos. 1-5, the subsidence <br />would have to establish hydraulic connection across the interbedded <br />sandstones and shales of the Mesa Verde formation where none apparently <br />exists at this time. The other water rights surrounding the mining site are <br />indeed surfacelcolluvium system and not expected to be affected by <br />subsidence, given the predicted vertical displacements and locations of <br />potential subsidence. <br />
