(e) An approximate timetable to describe the mining operation. The timetable is for the
purpose of establishing the relationship between mining and reclamation during the
different phases of a mining operation.
The Operator anticipates it will take five to ten years to mine and reclaim the site, depending
on market demand and the amount of aggregate resource that is remaining on the property.
Mining on the Sandy Acres site will begin upon receipt of all necessary permits for the site.
Please refer to the Mining Plan Map in Exhibit C for the area to be mined.
(fJ Use Mining Plan Map in conjunction with narrative to present:
(i.) Nature, depth and thickness of the deposit and thickness and type of overburden to
be removed
Limited subsurface data from earlier aggregate investigations is documented on a Quest
Consulting, Inc. drawing dated September of 1987. The geotechnical logs indicate that the
aggregate at the Site is clean sand to gravelly sand with no clay lenses identified. The
subsurface data presented on the Quest drawing appears to be an assimilation of data
collected in 1979 and 1981 including fourteen borings and four test pits. No laboratory
testing data was presented on the drawing. The data indicates that bedrock varies from 40
to 75 feet below ground surface (bgs) and groundwater was present at 20 to 25 feet bgs.
No new soil test borings were drilled on this site as part of this application.
Topsoil & Overburden: There is limited topsoil located on-site due to over burden
removal during prior mining. The topsoil that is located on-site will be segregated and
stockpiled separately. The overburden is estimated to range in depth from two to eight
feet and will also be stockpiled separately.
Sand and Gravel: Based on soils boring information, the sand and gravel resource
ranges in thickness from approximately 37 to 57 feet.
(ii.) Nature of the stratum immediately beneath the material to be mined in
sedimentary deposits
Based on regional geologic mapping (Colton, 1978), the near surface bedrock in the
project area is the Upper Cretaceous Laramie Formation. The bedrock is overlain by
Upper Holocene (Quaternary age) Post-Piney Creek and Piney Creek gravel deposits.
The bedrock unit consists mainly of claystone and may contain lenses of siltstone and
sandstone.
(g) Identify the primary and secondary commodities to be mined/extracted and describe the
intended use.
The primary commodities are sand, gravel and fill; intended for construction materials.
E-470 Public Highway Authority -Henderson Development (Sandy Acres) - MLRB 112 Permil Amendment Application
Exhibit D - 5
