Add West Pod to Mine Plan and Up Date Mine Plan Map and Subsidence Information
Dear Planning Director:
The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph
4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 18, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie
No.2Minewasconsideredcompleteforthepurposesoffiling. The revision wassubmittedbyBowieResourcesLimited. All
review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
Approval ofthis technical revision would allow mining in the west section of the already approved permit area. Mining would
remain conventional room and pillar and there would not be any increase in the production rate. No Federal coal is involved.
In addition, the mine plan map is being updated with this technical revision to show the current extent of mining and the
proposedadditiontotltemineplan. Finally,thesubsidencesectionofthepermitapplicationisbeingupdatedtoincludemining
through the fault that will need to occur in order to access the proposed west mine section.
The undergroundcoal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit
area is further described as follows:
Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, I I, 14, I5, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.i minute Quadrangle map of Bowie.
A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection a[ the Delta County Courthouse, 5th & Palmer,
Delta, CO 81416, and at the Division office. For additional informationor to provide written comments, contact the Division
of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, [phone]. In order for us to
comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter. If no
comments are received by then, we will proceed on the assumption that you have no concerns with, or objections to, the
applicant's proposal.
