l
'9
December 5, 1980

Mr. Lee Tucker
Tucker Construction Company
4563 E. County Road 68
Wellington, Colorado 80549
RE: Tucker Aggregate Permit Amendment
Our File: lE80-2
Dear Mr. Tucker:
III III III III I'11111
May we request som additional Information regarding the above permit
amendment)
.~ ;.
EXHIBIT C-2 - Mining Plan Map
1. On the amended mining plan map submitted, an area indicated as the
watchman's housing is shown outlined beyond the affected area. For
the sake of my records, are you requesting additional acreage for
this area (if so, how much?), or did you come to an agreement with
Jim McArdle regarding substitution of lands formerly required for
dams and diversions?
2. Is the total affected acreage to remain at 220? No
?3. Please send a copy of the soil and overburden results analyzed by
CSU. -1...~ 10. i.~ ~.ic
4. Please elaborate on the "over the shoulder" mining operation proposed
for Unit 4, with particular regards to replacement of overburden,
grading, and topsoiling conteoporous with mining. Your application
Is unclear as to whether soil (solum) from Unit 4 will be segregated
and stockpiled, or so 11 anA overburden will be collectively excavated
- and replaced, in • mixed state, behind you es mining progresses south.
This apparent confusion stems from the fact thst descriptions of the
Ascalon series soils at the site have a typical 8" surface layer and
,> a 16" subsoil, but you propose to strip 0-10" of topsoil and overbur-
den. I recognize local variations in soli thickness, but •re you
~ using the term overburden syranyanus with subsoil?
5. Please elaborste on the function of the diversion ditch. How much water
(salsture) have you encountered? is the ditch intended to drain signi-
ficant anaunts of water?
J
